About Joan Mann Special Sports Day
The Joan Mann Special Sports Day began in 1981. The event was started by Mildenhall Top III Fellowship, a non-profit organization comprised of military members in the top three enlisted ranks, and matched dedicated U.S. military volunteers with local special needs children for a day that bonded communities with sports and fanfare. Joan Mann took a special interest in the event and, as a result of her overwhelming commitment to the event; it was re-named the Joan Mann Special Sports Day in 1986. Since then, thousands of U.S. and UK military members from multiple bases in the UK have volunteered their time and efforts to ensure that disabled children throughout the Midlands enjoy their day participating in friendly competition..
